Make-A-Wish Foundation
The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is to grant
the wishes of children with life-threatening medical
conditions to enrich the human experience with hope,
strength, and joy.
On April 29, 1980, a 7-year-old boy named Chris Greicius realized his lifelong dream to become a police officer. Many of those responsible for fulfilling Chris’ wish wanted to do the same for other children with life-threatening medical conditions. This led to the formation of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. |

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 67 chapters in the U.S. and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants more than 12,600 wishes a year and has granted more than 163,722 wishes in the U.S. since inception.

Northwest Ohio Make-A-Wish
Chapter
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northwest Ohio was
founded in 1984, when Marcy McMahon saw a TV special
about the Phoenix experience with Chris Grecius.
Marcy and her husband wanted to create a foundation
like this for the local community, so she contacted
the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America for information
and Northwest Ohio soon became the 12th Make-A-Wish
chapter. |

Since its inception, the
Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Northwest Ohio has
granted nearly 1000
wishes
for children with life-threatening medical conditions
in our service area. Fulfillment of these wishes
has been made possible through the generous financial
support of individuals and the business community
throughout our region.
All funds raised in Northwest Ohio are used to grant
wishes for children in the 21 counties that comprise
Northwest Ohio. |
